On December 12 at 2:30 in the morning our great elderly neighbors Bob and Sharon (Ages 74 & 72) woke up to the sound of trees falling that were the start of a devastating landslide. Both Bob and Sharon watched as their cabinets fell over, crashing china hit the floor and they watched their wall split in half. They both got out of their house, crawled through the falling trees and brush and proceeded to make their way to our cabin where they sat and watched as their home fell into the river. All they had was a flashlight as they watched this happen. As the slide continued they found that where they were was not safe and proceeded to the next property. Their dog, Yogie was lost for hours and eventually they found him. They were rescued when the sun came up and people were able to get to them.
They have lost everything. This is not just the loss of their home, but the ground that their house was built upon. Insurance does not cover events such as a landslide. The Red Cross gave them $640 and they have made the transition to staying a hotel in Lincoln City. This makes the transition back to some kind of normal extremely difficult.
They are safe and we could not be more thankful for that! This is going to be a long road ahead for Bob and Sharon. Each donation will greatly help them. I am helping Bob and Sharon with this fundraiser as they do not have a smart phone and access to much internet.
They appreciate your help during this hard time!
Thank you ~
