Support for Blaine's Long-Term Stroke Recovery

Donation protected
Nearly eight years ago, my brother-in-law, Blaine Coffman, suffered a severe stroke that changed his life forever. He was sent home from the hospital with hospice care, and we were preparing for the worst. However, once home, his spirit rallied, and he knew he was not ready to leave this earth yet. Despite being paralyzed on his left side, he was determined to walk again. With the help of physical therapy, he began to make significant progress. Seven years ago, though, his journey took a devastating turn when he fell and broke his hip. This setback had undone all the progress made, leaving Blaine completely unable to walk or use his left arm.

Today, he is confined to a recliner day and night with little reprieve, only venturing out for doctor's visits. He uses a Hoyer lift, an electric wheelchair, and a converted van for mobility on those rare occasions he needs to leave the house. He has home care that assists with his personal care, medications, toileting, and other essential needs.

When Blaine had his stroke, he was at the peak of his career and was actively funding his 401K, intending to continue throughout the remainder of his working years. However, after nearly eight years, their 401K, savings, and proceeds from selling their home have been depleted, leaving them without sufficient funds for housing, utilities, and medical expenses. The daily home care Blaine needs is not covered by Medicare or Medicaid, and his wife of 45 years, my sister, Stacey, is also disabled.

They now have no choice but to humbly and desperately ask for support in this incredibly challenging time. Generosity is crucial in helping them cover the costs of essential home care and allowing them to maintain a semblance of independence and dignity. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a tremendous difference in their lives. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness and support.

Personal note: I've known Blaine for 46 years and I can tell you that anyone that has ever known Blaine, likes Blaine. He's truly a good guy and doesn't deserve what happened to him. I believe he has hung in there for so many years so my sister won't be alone. If their finances won't support him any longer, he will have no choice but to go to a skilled nursing facility without her. Thank you for taking the time to read this post.
