Support for Blaine Barnett

Blaine Barnett was diagnosed with Multiple-Sclerosis, a progressive neurological disease 22 years ago. The diagnosis not only ended his college football career but his  hope for a life without physical disability which included being able to run and play outdoors with his kids. He has suffered from many symptoms, a few of which are his legs would not support him, extreme heat/cold intolerance, numbness, balance issues, pain, depression, and uncontrollable movements of his extremities. For 21 years, Blaine has courageously accepted any and all medications and treatments his neurologists have prescribed, some with very unpleasant and even potentially dangerous side effects.

Four years ago, Blaine knew he had to quit teaching and coaching, his career that he loved, as some days he needed assistance to walk back inside the building. He could not tolerate the heat when watching his children's outside sports, as his legs would not hold him upright. Inspired by the MS journey of Coach Sam Harrell and others, he began looking into stem cell treatment in Panama, a particular treatment that is not done in the U.S. Blaine went to Panama last summer where he received over one billion mesenchymal stem cells and has seen improvement in his symptoms, being able to do things that he could not do before. This would not have been possible without the stem cell treatment.

This year Baine was given the opportunity to return to his dream job of teaching special education and coaching in Coppell. While he still struggles each day, he is thankful for the support of family, friends, and coworkers. He still has a long road before him.

The treatments in Panama are expensive, and health insurance does not cover any of it. Any money you donate will go directly toward funding another stem cell treatment. Blaine thanks you in advance. Whether you are able to assist financially or not, he appreciates your prayers, friendship, and your support of the Nation Multiple Sclerosis Society.

If you will, please share this with your family and friends. Thank you for your consideration.
