Friends and family—
I’m reaching out to ask for support for our dear friends, the Machina family. I have been hounding them to let me set this up for weeks. They are so resistant to accepting help, but I finally wore them down. Act quickly before they shut me down!
Billy and Erin are currently facing a series of unimaginable challenges all at once.
Billy and Erin are full-time working parents to two beautiful little girls, Eloise (1.5) and Lucy, their newborn. Shortly after Lucy’s birth, she was diagnosed with CHARGE syndrome, a rare and complex condition that affects many areas of her precious little body. Lucy faces significant long-term medical challenges and is still in the NICU. Her challenges include breathing, feeding, vision and hearing difficulties. In her short life, Lucy has already undergone three significant surgeries.
As the Machinas adjusted to the weight of this new reality, bad luck struck again. During a recent rainstorm, their home flooded. Unfortunately, their insurance company has denied coverage, leaving them with around $30,000 in completely out-of-pocket repair costs. They are currently living with Billy’s mom, Lesa, while they attempt to coordinate repairs.
They say tragedy comes in threes….
Last night, Erin was experiencing severe abdominal pain. She’s now facing gallbladder removal surgery within the next week, adding more stress, recovery, and expenses to an already overwhelming situation.
This incredible family is stretched to their absolute limit. They’ve continued to show strength and grace through everything. They are so resistant to asking for help— they are so self-sufficient and fiscally responsible. With that said, absolutely NO ONE expects this level of stress, expense, and recovery to hit at once.
Let’s step up for our friends. While we can’t fix the medical challenges, I know we can at least remove the financial stress component, allowing them to focus on Lucy and Erin.
Your support will go directly toward:
• Home repairs and flood damage costs
• Medical bills for Lucy’s ongoing care and Erin’s surgery
• Basic living expenses as they navigate this intense season
Let’s rally around Billy, Erin, Eloise, and Lucy and show them they’re not alone. We all know they’d be the first to step up for others if roles were reversed!
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.❤️
