My mother passed away in January, and since then, life has been a struggle. I was forced to resign from my job, and now I’m months behind on my bills. Even though I’ve sent out multiple job applications, it’s been tough—two years ago, I was medically retired from the fire department, and there’s a salary cap I can’t exceed or I’ll lose my health benefits.

The funds from this fundraiser will help me cover past due bills and put groceries in the house for the weekends I have my three children. Every little bit will help us get back on our feet and make sure my kids have what they need when they’re with me.

If you’re reading this thinking this situation will never happen to you, I was there once too. On top of the world with everything figured out, then within days the ground crumbled beneath my feet and it’s been a landslide down for the past two years. Not being able to afford medications, food to put on the table and left to deal with it alone because you’re “too much” to handle when your world crumbles and falls apart.
