On 6 October 2025, at 12:15 am, our beloved Bhima Bhandari peacefully passed away at home in Adelaide, surrounded by her devoted husband and two young children. She leaves behind a grieving family who are deeply heartbroken by her loss.
Bhima was born in Bhutan, where she endured years of discrimination, harm, and trauma before being forced to flee to Nepal. As part of the Bhutanese refugee community, she lived for decades without access to education, health care, and other basic human rights. These hardships left lasting impacts on her wellbeing and contributed to ongoing health challenges, including PTSD.
Later, Bhima and her family resettled in Adelaide with hopes of rebuilding their lives. Despite her strength and resilience, Bhima’s health declined further. In May 2025, she was hospitalised with a complex medical condition that caused a brain injury and cognitive impairment. Her husband became her full-time carer, supporting her and their children through every step. Sadly, her condition worsened, and she passed away at home, embraced by her loved ones.
Bhima’s husband now faces the heavy burden of arranging her funeral and memorial service according to their cultural rituals and traditions. The family has already struggled financially due to her long-term medical needs, and this sudden loss has placed them under even greater stress.
We are reaching out to family, friends, the Bhutanese community, and compassionate supporters to help provide Bhima with a farewell that honors her life and beliefs. Any contribution, big or small, will go directly toward her funeral and memorial expenses, giving her the dignified farewell she deserves and easing the burden on her husband and children during this painful time.
We thank you deeply for your kindness, compassion, and prayers. May Bhima’s soul rest in peace.
