Support for Betsy ❤️

Friends,

It is with a hopeful but heavy heart that I ask for your help in supporting THE most generous, hard working, thoughtful person I know on this Earth. This woman has fought for every person she’s come by that has in any way faced a hardship- be it eviction, illness or just hard knock life- Betsy is hands down the biggest advocate for humanity I’ve ever met in my life.

With that- Betsy now needs OUR support. In mid December she went to the ER with intense pain in her side, only to be put in a queue with no help or information provided. After weeks of self made doctor’s appointments and subsequent MRIs, she finally had an answer in the form of imaging that showed a renal mass on her kidney that is presenting as cancer. She has been directed to have a partial nephrectomy (surgery) to remove the affected portion of her kidney in hopes of removing this mass as well as confirming diagnosis. This will also help to provide the information for the best path of treatment going forward, as needed. She has a tentatively scheduled surgery for Jan 30 and is hoping to get in sooner with OHSU.

Betsy has OHP, Oregon Health plan, which while semi helpful, will likely not cover the steep costs of a surgery and hospital stay as they have already denied her claim for the kidney MRI payment.

This financial burden, along with the cost of living she will miss out on as the sole employee of a small business, time her amazing husband Buck will need to take off to help her recover and the unknown path moving forward for treatment, will be expensive and challenging to say the least. I may adjust the goal as information comes in but please know-

Every single dollar sent will help this family make it through another day and will provide them with a slight bit more peace. As mentioned- no one is more deserving of support during this kind of challenge. When my dad was going through treatment in 2023, Betsy would show up weekly with soup for me or to bring to Bend to him and my mom. Let’s do the same for her. We ask for privacy at this time but any positive words of encouragement are always appreciated and welcome. THANK YOU all. LETS GET THIS THING OUT OF OUR GIRL!!!
