Please support the daughters and family of Bernadine Fredericks as they grapple with the heartbreaking loss of their mother and sister. On January 10, 2026, Bernadine an enrolled Hidatsa and Mandan woman, (with Crow descendancy) became one of our missing and murdered Indigenous women. Anybody who knew Bernadine Fredericks knew that she was the type of person who would go out of her way to help people and she did. She tirelessly advocated for her tribal community, the West Segment as the CEO to Councilwoman Turner-Lonefight. Nobody could forget her infectious smile and laugh. She was the glue that held her family together with grace and beauty. Bernadine above all, was an involved and loving mother of her two daughters, aged 11 and 16. That is why her being taken so abruptly and tragically was so earth-shattering. 

 

In the wake of her death, there are some expenses that have arose for the family during their time of grief. This fund is to help alleviate some of those expenses and unburden the family. The first expense is for the care of Bernadine’s daughters. They are in the care of niece living in Oklahoma, which will require the girls to frequently travel back and forth for the ongoing investigation and for the forthcoming trial.  This fund will go toward these trips and also other necessities as needed for the girls. Second, the family is also left with some outstanding debts, including a mortgage on Bernadine’s house (that will be owned by her daughters) which this fund will help pay. Finally, this fund will go toward the hiring of an attorney to help handle the estate, the girl’s benefits, and to look into if there can be a sort of justice for Bernadine. Maacagiraac!
