This GoFundMe page was created on behalf of a family whose son is facing urgent medical treatment and overwhelming healthcare expenses.

Benson Munezero is an 8-year-old boy, currently living in Kigali, Rwanda with his parents and his 15-year old sister. Benson has been battling severe epilepsy since the age of 5. What began as seizures has now been diagnosed as medical refractory epilepsy, caused by a left temporal arachnoid cyst and focal brain atrophy.

Despite ongoing treatment, Benson continues to suffer from recurrent, uncontrolled seizures. Doctors have determined that he urgently needs specialized epilepsy surgery at a high-tech medical facility to give him the best chance at recovery and a better quality of life.

His family is doing everything they can, but the cost of this life-saving procedure is far beyond what they can afford, especially as this type of surgery cannot be performed in Rwanda.
