This is incredibly difficult for me to write, as I’ve always taken pride in working hard and handling my responsibilities on my own.

In November, I sustained a hand injury at work & was out of work for 3 months. 2 days after I returned to work on February 8th, I was forced to go back out due to multiple disc issues in my back which

require a procedure at the end of February. I’ll be out of work again for 1–3 more months.

Missing the overtime that comes with the winter season and the ability to do side jobs that typically supplement my income has been really difficult.

Today I found out my 10-year-old dog and best buddy Benny needs serious medical care. He has to have a CT scan (estimated cost of $2,800–$3,200) to determine if a large mass on his hip that appeared pretty suddenly can be surgically removed.

If operable, he will likely need a back leg amputation. Total estimated costs are between $7,000–$9,000. The estimates from other veterinary hospitals in New England differ slightly, but these numbers came from Pieper Memorial in Middletown, CT.

Benny has been my constant companion for a decade. I brought him home on March 16, 2016 when he was just 8 weeks old. He has been right by my side through so much in my adult life. He’s only a 9 lb powerhouse but full of life, zoomies, personality, and otherwise very healthy. I am committed to giving him the best care possible.
