Support for Ben after accident
Donation protected
My brother Ben, was riding his motorcycle home and got into a critical accident. He was driving on the main road and had the right of way and a car pulled out unexpectedly in front of him. They cut his clothing off to get to the wounds and try and stop the bleeding. He was rushed to Harborview Medical Center and had to have surgery done. The surgery took over 10 hours and the doctors said he was lucky to be alive. He fractured his face (it’s too swollen to tell exactly what is fractured so once the swelling goes down they’ll be able to assess it again), a lung was punctured and a rib fractured, his right arm was so shattered that they had to do surgery to put the pieces back together with metal rods and screws, his left leg was dragged badly during the accident and is really busted up and he fractured his knee, has a torn ligament and a fractured tibia on that same leg. Due to all the fractures in his face, he can only eat puréed food because chewing is very difficult. He has an overwhelming amount of swelling, bruising and scrapes and overall our baby bro is not looking like the little brother we’re so used to seeing and talking to.
Ben lives with my mom and has always been so helpful to her especially after the passing of our dad. He helps out with rent, he’s always checking in on mom and trying to help her out where he can. I know it’s hard for her to look at her son right now when she can’t do much to take away his pain. We are helping where we can but my mom has been through so much this last year, I just want to help her even more and take a little bit of a load off of her financially for medical bills and since she will be taking time off work so she can focus on my brother and fully be there for him/ take him to appointments/care for him while he recovers and gets more independent and on his feet again. Please keep him in your prayers so that he recovers fully and gets strong again, so that he doesn’t get depressed because he currently is going through a lot of emotions, pain, frustration and it’s difficult physically, mentally, spiritually. I know gaining strength again is difficult and for someone who is very active, it’ll be hard to be on bed rest for so long. Even if you can’t donate, your prayers are so very appreciated. The doctors said he’s lucky to be alive and that is already a huge miracle and we’re extremely thankful he’s still here with us!
