Aloha everyone,
As some of you may know, our friend Rya has been on a wild journey with cancer these past 4 years. It started with a lump below her ear, spread to her liver and now to her brain. She just underwent brain surgery to remove the tumors that were pressing on her optic nerve. The surgery went well, and she is now in the ICU, recovering and resting. She will most likely undergo different rounds of chemo and radiation therapy for the tumors in her body in the coming weeks.
Rya is a force of Spirit. She has been fiercely positive about her healing, always putting her best foot forward as each stage progressed. These past couple of years, she moved from the Big Island to Maui to go on a big adventure with her family and enjoy every day as it comes. She worked hard, played with her son every day, married her partner and made lots and lots of art. A week ago, she moved to California to seek more help and receive the best treatment possible for her condition.
She is the loving mother of her son Zen, wife to her partner Kalani, daughter to her parents and hanai mom, and a dear friend to many. She blesses us with her wit, her tenacious attitude, her mellow disposition, her boundless creative spirit and her bubbly zest for life.
We humbly ask that you support whatever you can contribute towards Rya's efforts to pay for the treatments, surgeries and therapies ahead. Every dollar makes a difference!!
