Hello everyone, For those that know me, you know this is the last thing i would ever want to do. I would rather help than be helped, and give than be given. Unfortunately, my family and I could use some help this year.
I am a government contractor who was furloughed without pay or back pay during the October 2025 shutdown. On October 21st, I was taken by ambulance to the ER with severe pain, where I was diagnosed with a kidney stone stuck in my ureter that required surgery. After being transferred to another hospital for specialized care, I underwent surgery and began my recovery. While I was still recovering, I received a call from my doctor with news that changed everything: my biopsy had come back positive for cancer. I was diagnosed with stage 1 invasive melanoma and sent to UAB for further surgery and biopsies. Just before Thanksgiving, I had surgery, and when the results came back from my lymph nodes, they were also positive for cancer. My diagnosis was upgraded to stage 3 cancer just before Christmas.
I have depleted all of my savings on lost wages, medical expenses and, with the help of friends and family, was able to provide Christmas for my three children with what little remained. Now, as January begins, the medical bills are still coming in, my insurance deductible and out-of-pocket maximum have both reset, and I am about to start cancer treatment for the next year. The financial strain is overwhelming, and I am doing everything I can to support my family through this difficult time.
The funds raised will help cover medical expenses, pay my insurance deductible and out-of-pocket maximum, and support my ongoing cancer treatment throughout the year. It will also ease the financial burden on my wife and I as our two boys start baseball. Any support would mean the world to my family and I as we face these challenges. Thank you for considering a donation and for helping us get through this difficult time. God bless you all.
