Support Chathuri’s Battle Against Leukaemia

In the face of life’s most challenging battles, Chathuri’s unwavering courage and resilience shine brightly as she confronts the final stages of cancer.

Mrs. Chathuri Rangika Hemachandra Mallawa Arachchige moved to Perth with her husband and two young children, aged 8 and 12, from Sri Lanka several years ago. She obtained her Master of Nursing and has been a charismatic and devoted Registered Nurse at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital for several months .

Four months ago, while at work, Chathuri received a call from her GP that changed her life forever. Based on her test results, she was urgently advised to present herself to the Emergency Department. It was there that she received the devastating news: she had been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. Despite undergoing her first chemotherapy protocol, it unfortunately failed. She is now on her third protocol, holding onto hope for a better outcome.

Beyond this heartbreaking diagnosis and poor prognosis, Chathuri has faced numerous other challenges. Currently on an Australian post-graduate visa, she is unable to receive financial assistance from most charities or income support from Centrelink. As an inpatient, she incurs daily additional hospital and treatment expenses that are not covered by her Health Insurance Cover. Therefore, as per medical advice, she plans to proceed stem cell transplant treatment in Sri Lanka. The cost has been estimated around AUD$80000 by Sri Lankan medical team. In this incredibly difficult time, Chathuri is turning to the kindness and generosity of the public. She hopes to receive financial aid to support her and her family, alleviating some of the burdens they face. Your contributions will go directly towards covering her stem cell transplantation to cure the disease condition, and providing her with the peace and dignity she deserves.
