With the permission of Barrick's family, we are providing more information about Barrick's sudden passing. On February 12, Barrick and his two girls were involved in a minor traffic collision. When Barrick approached the other driver to exchange insurance information, the driver accelerated, struck Barrick with his vehicle and fled. Barrick passed away a few days later. What should have been a minor fender bender turned into a tragic nightmare that took the life of a kind, beloved person who now leaves behind a wife and three young children.

The family is grateful for passing drivers and witnesses who provided information that led to the arrest of the suspect, who has now been arraigned on first degree murder charges.

The news of Barrick's passing has been heartbreaking for all who knew and cared about him. To his Illumina family, Barrick was more than just a coworker; he was a true friend. He took pride in being a supportive business partner, always offering help with a smile and uplifting those around him. Barrick's gentle spirit and kindness touched so many lives, and his absence will be deeply felt by everyone who had the privilege of working with him.

We are in contact with his wife, Shirley, and have let her know how greatly we all will miss Barrick. He also leaves behind three young children—Vicky, Sarah, and Jeffrey—who are now facing an unimaginable loss. With the family's permission, we have set up this fundraiser to help support Shirley and the children during this incredibly difficult time. The funds raised will go toward covering expenses and providing for the family's living costs as they navigate the days ahead.
