On June 4th at 11:04PM Jeremy and Brittin welcomed their son Barrett Melvin Rae Fleshman into this world nearly 8 weeks early. His mom, Brittin, had been having early labor and contractions for about a week at that point. Her midwife and Labor and Delivery had tried to get her contractions to stop, but it was decided that it would be best to send her to Spokane via Life Flight to wait out the rest of her pregnancy up there, so that if he did come early he would be in the best place he could be. He arrived only a few hours later.
Because he was so early, Barrett has been spending his time in the NICU at Sacred Heart. Brittin is able to stay with him while he is there which is wonderful. However, due to the fact that he came so early, Brittin was not able to finish training her employees to cover for her maternity leave. Her bakery (B’s Bakery) is able to stay open to provide her employees with continued pay, but since Brittin isn’t working right now to help make more baked goods to sell, she is not currently able to pay herself.
We have had some people reach out and ask how they can help Brittin and Jeremy. Currently Jeremy is back to work, so that is definitely helpful, but he is going up to see his family on the weekends and with his diesel truck it is pretty expensive. On top of that, they recently bought a new house and their max out of pocket for their insurance is very high. While Barrett is in the NICU there are a lot of purchases they have had to make that they weren’t expecting to make.
Because of all of that, and more, their main concerns right now are Barrett continuing to do well, getting to come home, and finances.
Their family greatly appreciates any help we can get for them, as there is only so much they can do. Thank you so much for your consideration and please keep Barret, Brittin and Jeremy in your prayers as they continue to navigate this very stressful and emotional time.
