My name is Liz (Barnhill) Henry. My siblings and I lost our father on November 21st at the age of 85 after he had been placed on hospice for end-stage lung disease. Seven weeks later, our mother unexpectedly passed at the age of 78 after falling twice, breaking several ribs, her shoulder, and developing a hemothorax and pneumothorax. Her lung was repunctured by her flailing rib, and emergency surgery was in question. Her body was not strong enough to endure the surgery, so we brought her home on hospice as well. They were both on social security and did not have much income to cover the expenses of two funerals and a headstone. My family rallied and paid for my Dad's expenses, but we are all depleted and need some help to cover Mom's and the tombstone for them both.
