My name is Sara Goode and I'm a resident at a sober living home. My mother, Barbara Goode, passed away today and it was an unexpected event that we, her children, were not prepared for mentally or financially. We call her mom, but she was our grandmother who adopted us four children: me, Virginia, Leslie, and Lester. She raised us by herself, all of us together, and took care of us not because she had to, but because she wanted to, to keep us together and love us. In the end, we were there for her to care for her and love her in return, all together. She was a strong, independent, God-fearing woman. I'm so grateful and thankful that I am sober today, and she saw that and was so proud of me and my journey in sobriety. I will continue to make her proud today. God has gained an angel, and we got to love one and know one our whole lives.
