Friends and family, we are coming together to support a very special family as they welcome their sweet baby boy, Vernon Johnathan Moore, into the world. Vernon was born with several complex congenital heart defects, including HRHS, DILV, VSD, and TGA. Because of this, his heart is unable to function in the typical way, and he will require a series of open-heart surgeries within his first year of life. His first surgery will take place within the first days of his life. Right now, Vernon is being closely monitored by his medical team as they determine the best surgical path forward. While he is stable, the road ahead will be long, with extended hospital stays, procedures, and recovery.
As this family adjusts to life as a family of four, they are doing everything they can to be present for Vernon during this critical time. At this time, they are also having to take extra precautions to protect Vernon’s health. Even minor illnesses can pose serious risks, so visitors are being limited. In fact, his brother Dawson has not yet been able to meet him due to having a cough, a small but necessary sacrifice to keep Vernon safe.
In addition, Vernon’s father, Justin, was involved in a serious car accident several months ago and has been unable to work while recovering from multiple broken vertebrae in his back. He is currently undergoing physical therapy, with hopes of returning to work in the coming months. Until then, the family is facing significant emotional and financial strain all at once. Many have asked how they can help support this family during such a difficult time. Donations will go toward medical expenses, time away from work, travel, and the ongoing care Vernon will need throughout his journey. If you are able to give, share, or keep this family in your thoughts and prayers, it would mean so much. Let’s surround Vernon and his family with love and support as they begin this fight together.
