My daughter and her partner, TJ and Trevor, are facing every parent's worst nightmare. Their 3-week-old baby, Tru, was suddenly life flighted from rural eastern Oregon to Portland's Doernbecher Children's Hospital. Both parents dropped everything to be by Tru's side, but with Trevor as the sole provider, their family is now without income. Tru is very sick, still undergoing tests to confirm a diagnosis, and has already endured an infection and seizures. The doctors expect Tru will be in the hospital for some time, and the uncertainty is overwhelming for all of us.

Although our family is doing everything we can to support them, the costs are adding up quickly. They have not been able to get into the Ronald McDonald House, so daily living expenses in Portland—travel, food, and lodging—are mounting, all while bills continue to come due at home. The stress of trying to make ends meet is making an already heartbreaking situation even harder.
