Sara and her husband James just welcomed their first child, Samuel James Serpico, into the world on Jan 10th at 5:32 am. It was a hard 3.5-day labor, and Sara was a champion in persisting and carrying Samuel into the world.

From birth, he was not crying as expected and has struggled to wake up. He has not cried, been able to eat on his own, and remains largely unresponsive. He is currently being cared for in the NICU, and the incredible staff are working hard to identify what is wrong, but there are currently no answers. On the night of 1/13/26, he began to have seizures and his breathing struggled. However, when his loving and devoted parents came back to his bedside, he began to stabilize. Specialists are currently running tests and trying to identify the problem and a treatment.

Sara and James are so grateful for the huge community of folks who have prayed over Samuel, their family, and their medical team, and all prayers are continued to be needed. Today, Samuel began responding better as they played him worship music. For those who are able to and interested in supporting in a concrete way, please consider donating.

James and Sara both work serving their community and their God. Samuel is their world, and they have been so incredibly brave and strong in the midst of so much uncertainty and fear. My hope is that any amount of financial stress or burden that can be lifted from them can help give them the energy to continue to focus on their main priority, loving and fighting for their sweet boy.
