Matthew and Meranda are going through an unimaginable time. They had planned a holistic home birth, embracing a natural approach to welcoming their new baby. What they didn’t expect was the surprise of twins. On December 20th their first son, Neo (Twin A), arrived safely and is 100% healthy, but the second baby, Neonee (Twin B), was breech and became stuck during delivery. In those critical moments, Neonee went without oxygen for several minutes. My brother performed CPR until they could meet the ambulance, and from there, the family was split—my brother and Neonee were rushed to Dallas, Texas, while his wife and Neo were taken to a hospital in Paris, Texas.

Neonee (Twin B) is now in the NICU in Dallas in critical condition. The medical team is doing everything they can, keeping his body very cool and slowly warming him in hopes of positive news. Meanwhile, my brother and Meranda are facing overwhelming medical bills, travel expenses, and the uncertainty of housing while they try to stay close to their newborn. They are hoping to get into the Ronald McDonald House, but nothing is guaranteed. On top of this, it’s the holiday season, and they are separated from their other young children at home in Paris, anxiously waiting for their parents.
