Max Dowdle has an extremely rare form of sarcoma (type of cancer) and is facing 40 weeks of chemo-therapy before going through another surgery in hopes to remove the cancerous tissue. His last surgery took place in mid May and the surgeons were unable to remove the cancer and opted to go down the chemo-therapy route.
Maximus (his full name) sounds like the name of some gladiatorial champion! How true this is, though Max has been fighting for his life in a different way. He was born premature at only 28 weeks on January 7th! In his five months on earth Max has already faced nearly unbeatable odds and came out victorious only to now face a new formidable opponent in the form of sarcoma. All of this amid the COVID-19 pandemic, which due to hospital regulations, has often not allowed Jake, Max’s dad, to even be present in the hospital with him. Steffan, Max’s mom, has been able to remain with him through all of these turbulent events.
Jake and Steffan are not the kind of people who ask for help. Recently Jake’s car engine blew out and his cell phone broke, both of which are important for the work Jake does in order to provide for his family. This campaign is meant to assist Jake and Steffan with their medical and emergency expenses.
