My name is Raina, and I’m raising funds for a dear friend I served with in the military — Airica Hill — her husband and three boys. Her youngest, 3-year-old Leif, has been fighting a rare and life-threatening immune disorder called Hyper X-Linked IgM Syndrome.
Despite the odds, Leif received a bone marrow transplant, giving him a chance at a longer and healthier life. But his journey is far from over.
Leif is currently on oxygen, taking multiple medications, and requiring constant monitoring. Airica now has to travel weekly between Oklahoma and Texas so Leif can receive the specialized care he needs. These trips include long drives, hotel stays when necessary, meals on the road, and frequent hospital visits — all of which add up quickly.
On top of Leif’s intensive medical care, Airica is also caring for her two other boys, ages 4 and 8, all while balancing the emotional, physical, and financial strain no parent should have to face. She has officially run out of PTO, meaning every day she needs to be with Leif is unpaid.
The Hill family is strong in their faith and doing everything possible to stay hopeful, but they are stretched thin. The financial pressure is becoming overwhelming, and what they need most right now is support, breathing room, and relief from the burden of expenses that shouldn’t fall on a mother fighting to keep her child alive.
