Posting for my sister Kelly and her husband Jagger and their sweet son Leander. Leander, also known as “Anders,” arrived two days after his due date at 8lbs 6oz and 22 inches long, but he was unable to breathe at birth. He was suffering from meconium aspiration in the womb and was immediately transported via ambulance to the NICU in Des Moines. His momma Kelly was transported via ambulance later that night to be able to join him. After assessing the state of his lungs, the doctors decided Leander would need to stay in the NICU for a full 7 days to receive antibiotics and around-the-clock care to make sure he’s hitting his milestones.

Because a stay in the NICU is so unpredictable, there are many expenses that will affect their family. We are asking for help and support in this time of need. Any contributions made toward Anders’ stay in the NICU will go towards hospital bills, treatment plans and follow-up appointments, and upgrades to the air filtration system in their family home to ensure quality air for his little compromised lungs. Support will also help with costs related to ambulance rides, the Ronald McDonald House, and the NICU care team.
