My friends Michelle and Manny are the devoted parents of 5-month-old Kyaire, and his big brother and sister, Jace and Serenity. Kyaire was born with tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC2), a rare genetic disorder that causes non-cancerous tumors to grow in the brain and vital organs, leading to uncontrolled seizures.
Despite trying multiple medications, precious baby Kyaire continues suffering dozens of seizures daily. His medical team made the difficult decision that he needs brain surgery in August to try to get his seizures under control.
I first met Michele when our sons shared a hospital room for two nights during my child Anthony’s recent admission to Boston Children’s. Though brief, we connected instantly over unexpected hospital stays. I declared myself Kyaire's "auntie" and our friendship was one of the silver linings during a very tough time.
As if Kyaire's condition wasn't overwhelming enough, this young family faces major financial stress from his ongoing medical needs. Both Michele and Manny are hardworking barbers who have lost many clients due to Kyaire's hospital stays and appointments. The upcoming surgery means more unpaid time off.
With their income impacted, Michele has taken on extra jobs like baking and photography to make ends meet. But Kyaire's care costs, travel for treatments, and living expenses for their family are becoming unbearable.
Michele and Manny are incredibly strong, loving parents fighting tirelessly for their son. But they shouldn't face this battle alone. Let's rally around brave Kyaire, his parents, and siblings Jace and Serenity, in this time of desperate need.
Any donation will make an impact, allowing them to focus on Kyaire's treatment instead of money worries. Funds will cover medical costs, living expenses, travel, and unpaid leave.
From our hearts, thank you for supporting the family. Your generosity will never be forgotten.
