Hello, my name is Michelle and I am raising money for my best friend who is struggling at the moment with a beautiful little boy, Kolter, who came into this world earlier than anticipated. Kolter was born at just 25 weeks gestation from an emergency caesarian due to his mom, Kaylea, having sudden onset of severe eclampsia and seizures. He weighed in at just 1 lb 15.6 oz at birth and was taken straight to NICU where the doctors and nurses are performing miracles to keep him alive.
After 6 days of being apart and not seeing her son, Kaylea was able to be discharged from the hospital and go see and touch her sweet little boy. When Kolter was 27 weeks, she was able to physically connect with him for the very first time, having that pure joy of skin-to-skin contact. Kolter is now 35 weeks, growing steadily but having some heart complications and eye emergencies that have needed surgery. Unfortunately, the cost of his stay in NICU is not fully covered by insurance, and another 2 months stay is expected. Kaylea is unable to work or drive due to her seizures, leaving them with only her husband’s income. To increase her stressors, this all happened when they are in the middle of building their forever home, which has come to a halt, stripping them of any savings they had to now pay for medical bills.
Kaylea is an emergency nurse who has dedicated so much of her time and energy helping others in need, and I feel now is the time that we support our fellow nurses. She isn’t one to ask for help, which is why I am reaching out on her behalf, but I know that times are tough and financial stressors on top of having a very premature baby are extremely challenging. Please share this with as many people as possible and let's get Kaylea through these tough times and pray that Kolter grows big and strong over these next few months so he can leave the hospital and be at home with his mom, dad, brother, and sister.
