Amanda and Jacob welcomed their beautiful daughter Hazel into the world on May 13, 2025, knowing she would face a serious congenital heart defect. Hazel has already undergone one major surgery, and her journey is just beginning—she will need more procedures and ongoing care in the months ahead. The family is facing each day with courage, but the challenges are immense and often unpredictable.

The costs of Hazel’s medical care are significant. As just one example of many, Hazel has recently been supported by an ECMO machine in the Cardiac ICU. The total cost for an ECMO procedure can reach $350,000 or more, and as you can imagine, insurance only covers a portion of these costs.

Amanda and Jacob are also dealing with lost income from time off work. On top of that, they have expenses for food and the additional costs of living away from home while Hazel is in the hospital. Their focus is on Hazel’s health and well-being, but the financial strain is growing.
