Tiffany and John Spear’s world changed in an instant when their 5-month-old son, Cade, was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a rare and aggressive childhood cancer. What began as a seemingly minor illness after Thanksgiving quickly escalated. On December 2, Cade developed an enlarged lymph node, and by December 16, facial drooping led to an urgent trip to Wolfson’s Children’s Hospital in Jacksonville, FL. Within a day, doctors suspected neuroblastoma, and Cade underwent a series of biopsies and had a port placed to begin immediate chemotherapy.
Despite the whirlwind, the family was grateful to spend Christmas Eve and Christmas Day at home. But the relief was short-lived. On December 26, Cade lost movement in his legs, and the family rushed back to the hospital. Doctors discovered that the tumor on his spinal cord was rapidly affecting his ability to move, requiring emergency spinal surgery to remove as much of the tumor as possible. Cade is now recovering from surgery, with more chemotherapy and another spinal surgery ahead. The family is still waiting to learn the full extent of Cade’s diagnosis, but they know the journey will be long and uncertain.
Tiffany has been by Cade’s side around the clock, while John juggles his business and caring for their two other young sons, ages 2 and 4. Both parents are missing work, and the financial strain is growing as medical bills and living expenses mount. The Spears are facing unimaginable challenges, but their love and determination are unwavering. Any support will help ease their burden so they can focus on Cade’s recovery and caring for their family. Your kindness and generosity mean the world to them during this difficult time.
