Friends and family,
This account has been created to share the story of the birth of Luke and Karli's son, Bear, and to request for reinforcements from our circles of friends.
Bear Ansel Kimmes was born Labor Day morning, September 1st. He experienced a devastating entrance into this world through a tragic accident with his umbilical chord. The medical team resuscitated him, and shortly thereafter he was air vacced from Steamboat to a children's hospital in Denver. Later that week, the NICU neurologist broke the news to Luke and Karli that Bear sustained extremely severe brain injury from lack of oxygen and blood flow. Since birth he has remained in the NICU receiving kisses, snuggles and songs from his parents and grandparents.
Upon permission from Karli and Luke, we are reaching out to request financial support from friends and family to cover the cost of Bear's helicopter flight, medical bills, and future trauma therapy sessions. We thank you for the deeply loving care many of you have given in prayers, text messages and phone calls.
Luke and Karli's parents have been staying with them in Denver, helping to support their immediate physical needs. Please hold them closely in your hearts and prayers, now and in the months to come. Thank you for loving them.
If you prefer to send funds through Venmo, here is Karli's username @Karli-Cross . GoFundMe is a free platform for raising emergency medical financial support, however 2.9% + 0.30 cents per donation is withdrawn for credit card processing fees.
