Hello everyone! On October 28th, my cousin, Jarett, his wife, Jazmin, and their 2-year-old, Alana, welcomed a beautiful baby boy into their family. Unfortunately, Baby Airis was born with a combination of major congenital heart defects, including flip-flopped anatomy (heterotaxia). He has been unable to leave the hospital since birth due to his conditions. On Tuesday, November 21st, Airis had a “Code Blue” scare in the NICU and was recently transported by plane to MUSC Medical Center, which is almost 3 hours away from their home. Doctors are hoping Baby Airis will be strong enough to endure surgery in about 6 weeks and even then, he has long road ahead of him.
This precious boy is putting up a good fight every day and I believe his parents should only have to worry about him getting better and not about travel expenses, hotels, daycare and food, especially during the holidays.
