Portland, Maine, a city that has provided asylum to thousands of refugees and immigrants, is currently under siege by ICE agents, and many of our friends and neighbors are afraid to leave their homes.
Last week, after dropping off a food delivery, a young mother, baby on her hip, came to the door. Her husband stood next to her. Their fear was palpable. But they called out to me and asked, in French-accented English, if perhaps I had some diapers.
Pour le bébé ?
I did not. And I felt horrible.
Join me in raising funds to purchase diapers in bulk, to be distributed to local relief organizations in Cumberland and York Counties
Pour les bébés.
Thank you for helping.
