The Family of Axel Wisdom
My nephew, Axel Lewis Wisdom, was born on Wednesday, November 23 at 7:47 a.m. Axel weighed 7 pounds 10 oz and was 19.5 inches long. Unfortunately during the final stages of labor, Axel's umbilical cord tightened around his neck and his heart rate dropped drastically. Axel was not breathing, so he was whisked away to be worked on and intubated. They immediately began cooling his tiny body and he was transported by ambulance to UW Madison Children's hospital. At that time, the doctors were uncertain the extent of brain injury Axel had sustained during delivery. That evening while in the NICU, Axel's brain seized and he was placed on anti seizure medication to prevent further seizures and injury. After 72 hours of cooling, the doctors began the 8 hour process of warming his body. Yesterday, Axel had an MRI on his brain to determine the extent of injury to his brain. We will not know the results until tomorrow. I will update when we hear more.
I am creating this Go Fund Me for my nephew, Axel, and my brother, Michael Wisdom and his girlfriend, Michelle Wedig. Michael and Michelle have been by Axel's side 24/7 as he continues to fight. They are currently taking time off work, so any money raised during this extremely difficult time will aid in daily living expenses including: rent, utilities, car payments, food, etc. It is unknown what medical expenses they will face in the weeks and months ahead, but any help would be a blessing. God Bless and Happy Holidays!
