On November 25, 2025, my world changed forever when I received the call no parent should ever have to get. My 13-year-old son, Avontea Henry, was tragically shot and killed outside of a Family Dollar in Highland Park. Avontea was my youngest child out of six, and his loss has left a hole in our family that can never be filled.
Avontea was a loving, caring, and supportive brother to all his siblings. Even though he was diagnosed with ADHD, he never let that stop him from achieving any goal he set his mind to. He was always there with a smile, ready to help and encourage those around him. His kindness and determination inspired everyone who knew him, and his absence is felt deeply every day.
We are raising funds to help cover Avontea’s funeral expenses and to support our family as we navigate this unimaginable grief. Any support you can offer, whether through a donation or by sharing our story, means the world to us. I would like to thank everyone who supports us during this difficult time. Your kindness and compassion bring comfort during this incredibly difficult time.
