An Update on Our Hero, Ava

With profound sadness and even greater pride, we are sharing that the medical testing is complete. Ava was officially declared brain dead on February 19, 2026, at 3:57 PM. While our hearts are broken, Ava’s mission of kindness is just beginning. Sharing Hope has officially begun the process of matching Ava with the individuals whose lives she is about to save.
We want to invite every person who loved Ava—and those moved by her story—to join us for what we hope will be the largest Honor Walk in MUSC history. We want the hallways overflowing with love as she makes her final journey of selflessness.

The Honor Walk Details:
When: Monday, February 23rd
Time: The walk will begin at 5:00 PM.
Arrival: Please arrive by 4:30 PM to gather and prepare.
Location: MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital

Weekend Visitation:
We are not ready to say goodbye alone, and we know many of you aren't either. We will be accepting visitors all weekend long and up until the final hour on Monday at 4:00 PM. Please come sit with her, share a memory, and help us celebrate the 15 years we were blessed to have her.
Thank you for carrying us through this. We will see you Monday to give Ava the hero’s farewell she deserves.
We will also be having a celebration of life for Ava on her upcoming birthday 3/5/2026. More details to follow.

February 18, 2026 Update
From Dave & Angie

To our wonderful community,
We wanted to share an important update regarding Ava. The official testing for brain death has begun and is expected to conclude this afternoon.
While this marks a heartbreaking milestone, it also brings us closer to Ava’s final, selfless act of organ donation. We are beginning to prepare for her Honor Walk, and we have a goal: We want this to be the biggest Honor Walk in the history of MUSC. Ava deserves to be surrounded by a sea of love as she makes her way to save the lives of others.

Current Plan for the Honor Walk:
When: Monday, February 23
Estimated Time: Approximately 4:00 PM or 5:00 PM
Location: MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital

Because these timelines can shift slightly based on hospital logistics, we will keep everyone posted with a confirmed time as Monday approaches. Please spread the word—we want every person who has been touched by Ava’s life to stand with us as we celebrate her incredible legacy.
Thank you for your steady prayers and for helping us give Ava the hero’s farewell she deserves.

February 15, 2026 Update

From the Holland family -

To our incredible friends, family, and community,
We want to express our deepest gratitude for the outpouring of love and support you have shown us since Ava’s accident. Knowing how much she is loved is what is sustaining us through these incredibly difficult days.
As many of you know, Ava is currently on life support. In keeping with her generous spirit, she will be an organ donor—a final gift that reflects the beautiful person she is.
We are currently in a period of waiting. The medical team is performing blood tests to ensure all sedatives are completely out of her system before they can move forward with the official brain death testing. While the lab results are taking longer than expected, we as a family are content in the delay. It simply means we get to hold her hand and be by her side just a little bit longer.
Because of these delays, it is difficult to set a specific time for her Honor Walk, but we anticipate it will take place sometime next week. We truly hope that everyone who can will join us for this walk to honor Ava in this last, profound act of selflessness. We want her to be surrounded by the community that shaped her as she gives the gift of life to others.
We will share those details as soon as we have a clearer timeline. Thank you for your continued patience, your prayers for strength, and for holding Ava in your hearts. We feel your love and are so grateful for each of you.

Our beloved Holland Family needs our help right now. Last Wednesday, February 4, 2026, their sweet Ava was seriously injured in a tragic automobile accident while on her way to school. She was initially treated at Grand Strand Hospital and later transported to Charleston to the pediatric ICU at MUSC, where her family has remained by her side.

Heartbreakingly, despite every effort by her medical team and all the prayers from her loved ones, the pressure in Ava’s brain became too much for her and her injuries will not be survivable. While the machines currently indicate that she is brain-dead, the doctors will be performing the necessary tests to officially confirm this. In the midst of unimaginable grief, Ava and her family have made the courageous and selfless decision to donate her organs, allowing her life to continue through the lives of others where she is able to save up to 8 other lives. Even in her final moments, Ava is giving the gift of hope. An honor walk will take place before the procedure takes place, and that information will be shared once we have it.

Ava, who is 15 years old and a native of Myrtle Beach, SC is in her sophomore year at Atlantic Collegiate Academy and a beloved member of the Coast United volleyball family. She is a devoted teammate, loyal friend, and bright presence to all who know her. Ava has many friends, teammates, and family members who love her deeply, and her loss will leave an overwhelming ache in the hearts of so many.

Anyone who knew Ava will always remember her light, her beautiful smile, infectious laughter, and the joy she brought into every room. She is kind, loving, and wonderfully silly—always finding ways to make others laugh and feel included. Ava’s heart is as big as her spirit, and that love will forever be part of her legacy. Her kindness, warmth, and spirit will live on through the lives she touches in this final act of generosity.

Ava is cherished beyond words by her parents Angie and David, who have wrapped every moment of her life in unconditional love, guidance, and devotion. They now face the unimaginable task of saying goodbye to their daughter while holding onto one another and to the strength Ava has always given them. Ava is also deeply loved by her siblings, Ryan and Aiden, who have grown up alongside her as her protectors, playmates, and closest friends. The bond they share is irreplaceable, and their hearts are forever changed as they walk through the most devastating days a family can endure together.

This GoFundMe has been created to help ease the financial burden on Ava’s family during this time. Funds raised will go toward medical expenses, daily living costs, and the financial hardship caused by time away from work so her parents can focus on being together, supporting their children, and honoring Ava’s life without added stress.

No amount can fix what has been lost, but your support—whether through a donation, sharing this page, or keeping the family in your thoughts and prayers—means more than words can express. It allows Ava’s family the space to grieve, to heal, and to hold close the love they share.

This goal represents a starting place, not an ending. Let’s come together as a community to exceed it, surrounding the Holland family with generosity, compassion, and unwavering support when they need it most. Let’s not just meet this goal, but exceed it in a way that truly lifts some of the burden they are carrying.

Thank you for surrounding Ava and her family with compassion, generosity, and love during this incredibly painful time. Please visit the webpage listed below to share memories, videos, pictures and messages about Ava to her family. We hope this page can become a place to celebrate Ava’s life—the laughter, love, and memories that will forever live on.
