Last week, everything changed for my Aunt, Joanie Cox. While taking down Christmas lights, she found Uncle Stacy unresponsive in their yard. Joanie called 911 and started performing CPR until help arrived. Uncle Stacy was rushed to the hospital and placed on life support, but after many tests, it became clear he could not survive without it. Surrounded by family, Uncle Stacy passed away, leaving Joanie to face a future she never expected.
Aunt Joanie is a quiet, and kind soul who is now navigating the shock and heartbreak of losing her lifemate of 53 years. The suddenness of it all has left her overwhelmed, struggling to process what has happened while also facing the reality of funeral expenses and daily bills. I want to help ease her burden so she can focus on healing and taking care of herself, right now.
I'd really like to share a memory I have when Uncle Stacy was around 21 and had just gotten out of the Navy. He called my parents and wanted them to meet his girlfriend. So, we cleaned the house real quick and they showed up all smiles. He was a handsome kid and Joanie was maybe 100 lbs. soak and wet. She had long strawberry blonde hair, big blue eyes and was wearing bell bottom pants. They sat on our couch and visited with my parents while us kids stared unapologetically at Joanie and Uncle Stacy! She was so shy and he was obviously over-the-moon crazy about her. Couldn't stop smiling and saying, "Isn't she pretty?" I just love that memory and wanted you to see a little bit of their personalities.
If you are able to help monetarily, it would mean the world to Joanie and our family. If you can't donate, sharing this GoFundMe link with others would also be a huge help. Most importantly, we ask for your prayers and support as Joanie begins to rebuild her life. Thank you for any kindness you can offer.
