On the morning of November 7th in Studio City, LA, two days after my father’s 79th birthday, my dad, George, a Vietnam veteran, was attacked in his own home by a naked man. Before reaching George, the attacker assaulted two female residents—one an elderly woman named Lily, who has late-stage Parkinson’s disease, and the other a young married woman. George used his self-defense skills to protect them, especially his wife, putting himself in harm’s way to prevent further violence.
During the attack, George was forced to use deadly force. As he was tackled to the ground, he was able to stop the perpetrator with his gun, preventing further harm to his wife and the others. As a result of his bravery, George suffered severe injuries, including two fractured ankles and a fractured hip. He is currently in the hospital recovering from surgery. Lily is struggling with her Parkinson’s while trying to heal from the trauma, and the young woman is now dealing with PTSD from the attack. George’s wife, who has late-stage Parkinson’s, is also deeply affected by the incident and the sudden absence of her primary caregiver.
We are raising funds to help cover the mounting medical expenses for George’s surgeries and ongoing care, as well as to support Lily and the other victims as they recover physically and emotionally. Any support will go directly toward medical bills, therapy, and essential needs during this difficult time. Your help will make a real difference as we work to rebuild and heal after this traumatic event.
