My name is Asia, and I’m a single mom doing my best to care for my children and my loved ones. For years, I’ve been the one people turn to for help, especially as I cared for my mother. But lately, life has become overwhelming. My rent is high, and my health has taken a turn for the worse. I’ve been diagnosed with depression, fibromyalgia, and Raynaud’s disease, which has made it hard for me to work as much as I need to. Despite my efforts to catch up, it feels like I’m always falling behind. I don’t receive any support from social services—no food stamps, no SNAP benefits, nothing.
