Asia is a young African American single mother raising her 18-month-old daughter on her own. I have had the privilege of mentoring her as she works tirelessly to create stability for herself and her child. Despite facing significant challenges, including depression and anxiety, Asia remains incredibly resourceful, seeking out social services and support wherever she can.

Recently, Asia’s situation became even more difficult. Her child’s father, who had been helping her financially, passed away suddenly after Christmas. This loss has left Asia not only grieving but also struggling to make ends meet. She is currently unemployed and at risk of homelessness, waiting for potential funds from life insurance and a pre-paid credit card to be released. However, there is a real possibility that this money may not come through, leaving her in a very uncertain position.

Asia is bright, engaging, and resilient, but she has experienced trauma in her past and is feeling very alone right now. By coming together to support her, we can help provide the security she needs to focus on finding employment and building a better future for herself and her daughter.
