For the past two weeks, my friends Ashtyn and Rylee’s sweet baby has been in the NICU, with no clear end date yet. While they’ve shared updates on baby’s progress, what many don’t see is the quiet financial strain this has created. The NICU does not provide accommodations or food for parents, meaning meals quickly add up, and Rylee has been traveling back and forth to try to keep up with expenses, leaving Ashtyn alone most days and evenings by baby’s side. On top of this, the NICU bills continue to grow with ongoing tests and care—costs we all know can be overwhelming when it comes to labor, delivery, and extended hospital stays. We are asking friends, family, and loved ones to help if they’re able. We completely understand times are hard, and even the smallest contribution would mean so much during this incredibly difficult mental, emotional, and financial time.
