Support for Ashton and His Family

This is incredibly hard to write, but we want to share Ashton’s story and ask for a little help during an unimaginably difficult time.

On the 15th of November, Ashton was taken to the GP after being unwell with one illness after another. At first, it was thought to be seasonal bugs, but his mum knew something wasn’t right — especially when his left eye became severely swollen. Despite being reassured it was related to sinus or ear infections, she continued to push for answers.

Thankfully, one GP referred Ashton to A&E. Blood tests showed abnormal results, and the family were told Ashton had markers for leukaemia. Hoping this wasn’t the case, they were transferred the following day to Leicester Royal Infirmary. After several days of tests, the diagnosis was confirmed: Ashton has Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL).

Ashton is not even two years old. In just a few short weeks, he has endured more than any child ever should — hospital stays, procedures, and the beginning of intensive treatment. Through it all, he has been unbelievably brave.

This diagnosis has turned the family’s world upside down. Both parents have had to take extended time off work to be by Ashton’s side during long hospital stays and appointments, while still caring for their other two children. The family are also facing frequent and ongoing travel to and from Leicester Royal Infirmary, alongside everyday costs such as fuel, parking, meals, and childcare. All of this has placed significant financial pressure on the family at a time when their focus should be entirely on Ashton and his recovery.
