Hello,
My son has Pectus Excavatum. It is where your chest sinks in/sunken and begins putting pressure on your heart and lungs. He had surgery in 2023 to correct this condition. A Nuss bar was inserted into his chest wall to push his sternum outward. This bar is screwed to his ribs to keep the bar in place. There is also a "magic string," they call it, to pull the bottom of his ribs back inward. The Nuss bar and magic string is to stay in his body for 2-3 years. April of this year, 2026, hit the 3 year threshold. The surgeon said it is time for them to be removed.
Our insurance will only cover so much. Here is the breakdown.
Hospital: 3200
Surgeon: 999.20
Anesthesiologist: 1890-could be more if the surgery lasts longer than an hour.
As of right now, we have his surgery scheduled for June 25th.
So I am asking if you could help in any way we would be grateful.
Thank you,
Ashley Nowell
