We are asking for help and support for my sister Ashley and her 8-year-old son, Liam, during an incredibly difficult and uncertain time for their family. Ashley’s husband, Ricardo, was recently detained by immigration while he was working. Since then, Ashley has been doing everything she can to stay strong for Liam while also managing ongoing communication with immigration attorneys and handling the legal process surrounding Ricardo’s case. The attorneys informed the family that these cases can take a very long time depending on the judge and the circumstances involved. They explained that it could take several months to even up to a year before a decision is made on whether Ricardo will be allowed to return home or be sent back to Mexico.

Ricardo was the primary breadwinner for their household, and his detention has placed Ashley and Liam under sudden emotional and financial strain. Ashley is continuing to work as an interpreter at a call center while trying to care for Liam, manage legal matters, and keep their home and bills afloat during this heartbreaking situation.
