Support for Antonio Figueiredo's Family

With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we mourn the unexpected and tragic loss of Antonio Joaquim Figueiredo, a beloved husband, father, and a true pillar of our community.

Figueiredo, 59, passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Beth Israel Hospital in Newark, NJ. He was born in Horta, Anadia, Portugal and emigrated to the US in July of 1984 and resided in the Ironbound Section of Newark, NJ.

Antonio worked for the Excavators Union Local 731 of New York for many years. He was a member of the Sporte Benfica, Movimento dos Cursos de Cristindade, Garden State Bird Association, Association of Pan American Canary Culturalist of Union City and the South Eastern Massachusetts Canary Club.

Loving son of Antonio Baptista Figueiredo and Maria Docinda de Jesus Figueiredo; Beloved husband of 34 years of Maria Manuela Dos Santos (nee Cardoso) Figueiredo; devoted and loving father of Daniel Santos Figueiredo; dear brother of Isabel Figueiredo; son-in-law of Maria Elena Almeida dos Santos; also survived by many dear relatives and friends.

The Funeral for Figueiredo will be held on:

Friday, February 7, 2025 at 8:30am at the Buyus Funeral Home, 426 Lafayette St., at Wilson Ave. Newark, NJ 07105. Then to Our Lady of Fatima Church, Newark, where at 9:30am the Funeral Mass will be offered. Entombment to follow at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, North Arlington, NJ.

The wake will be held on Thursday, February 6th from 5-8 pm.

His sudden departure has left our community in shock and disbelief.

The funds raised will help cover unexpected expenses and provide some measure of comfort as they navigate this heartbreaking loss.
