Support for Annette and Cindy After Tragic Loss

Please help our friends who tragically lost their husbands at the same time.

On the evening of February 5th, a business trip together ended in unimaginable tragedy.

While visiting Dallas, Texas, brothers-in-law Chad Smith and Sam Arlia were struck by an out-of-control vehicle as they walked along a sidewalk. Despite being rushed to the hospital, both men passed away later that evening.

In a single moment, two families were shattered.

Their wives, Annette and Cindy, who are sisters, are now facing the unbearable reality of losing their husbands at the same time—while also helping their children face this, spread across two states, and navigating grief that no family should ever have to carry alone.

Chad and Annette lived in Colorado and were married for 25 years, raising three children together. Sam and Cindy lived in New Jersey and were also married for 25 years, raising four children.

These were devoted husbands, loving fathers, active in ministry and men deeply committed to their families and faith. Their absence leaves an ache that words cannot fully capture.

As Annette and Cindy grieve, they are also facing the immediate and overwhelming responsibilities of:
  • Planning two memorial services
  • Managing unexpected travel and logistical costs
  • Stabilizing household income during a time of profound loss
  • Providing grief counseling and emotional support
  • Beginning the long process of future planning in a completely changed life
This fundraiser is being managed by Sam Pack, Annette and Cindy’s older brother, who is helping ensure that all funds raised are distributed evenly between both sisters to meet urgent and ongoing needs.

Every gift—no matter the size—helps lift a portion of the burden these families now carry.

If you are able to give, your generosity will directly support Annette, Cindy, and their children during the most painful season of their lives. If you are unable to give at this time, sharing this page is a powerful way to help.

The Smith and Arlia families are leaning on their faith and their community as they take each step forward, one day at a time. Your love, prayers, and support will help provide stability, comfort, and hope as they begin the long road toward healing.

Thank you for your care and support.
