Andrew Cooper’s Recovery

Many of you have heard about the terrible sword attack incident here in the small town of Mariposa. The victim’s name was never released publicly, but that victim is my son, Andrew or as he is known as just Coop by many friends and acquaintances.

Andrew aka Coop is 32 years old. He was caught completely off guard while in a friend’s apartment, he was suddenly struck in the head with a sharp object, which was later identified as a sword. He was struck multiple times before help arrived. In the process hit in shoulder, hands multiple times in the side all while trying to just survive this attack.

He was first airlifted to a hospital in Merced for emergency treatment. Due to the severity of his injuries, including a partially severed arm and hand, he was stabilized and then flown again to UC Davis Health for emergency surgery in an attempt to save as much as possible. At this time, Andrew remains in surgical ICU while doctors continue treating his injuries.

As a mother, all I want is to be by my son’s side so that when he wakes up, he is not alone and scared.

Unfortunately, I am struggling to afford the travel expenses to stay near him in Sacramento. Between fuel, food, and hotel costs, things have already become overwhelming.

To make matters worse, I discovered nails in two different tires on my vehicle last night, and I have now been told I need an entirely new set of tires and sensors. The estimated cost is nearly $2,200, which is simply beyond what I can manage right now.

Many people have encouraged me to create a GoFundMe page, so one has now been set up to help with:

* Travel expenses so I can remain near Andrew
* Emergency vehicle tire replacement and sensors
* Medical and air ambulance expenses or any expenses that will be needed.

I also want to give a heartfelt thank you to the local Mercy ambulance service for their rapid response, and to the sheriff’s department for their efforts in locating the person responsible for this horrific attack on my oldest son.

My son is far from perfect, but no one in a small town like ours, whether homeless or wealthy, should ever have to fear being violently attacked while in their home or someone else’s.

If you are able to help, even a few dollars can make a difference. If you cannot donate, please consider sharing this post and keeping Andrew in your thoughts and prayers.

Thank you all so much for your kindness, support, and prayers during this unimaginable time for me and my family.
