Ander turned 6 years old in April 2026. Before this cancer stole his childhood, Ander was very loving, kind hearted, friendly, happy, and always had a beautiful smile on his face. He loved to dance and sing all loud. He loved outdoor activities and playing with kids of his age. He was diagnosed with autism in April 2023. At age 3, he was non-verbal, but when he started TK he began talk, express his feelings, and letting us know his needs in his own words. He found his voice back then, and it was a beautiful gift to our family.

In January 2026, what was supposed to be a wellness visit to the doctor ended with Ander in a hospital bed, unable to move or talk. Little by little, he began having trouble breathing, needed oxygen, and required seizure medication. He was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), a rare, highly aggressive, and inoperable brain tumor found in the pons (brainstem) of children, typically aged 5–7. DIPG causes rapid neurological decline—including vision issues, facial weakness, and mobility loss—due to rapid, diffuse growth. While radiation provides temporary relief, it is unfortunately fatal, usually within a year.

It’s been 3 months since Ander’s diagnosis and a lot has changed. After he finished radiation therapy, we saw many positive changes, but on his most recent MRI in April, we learned that the tumor had not changed in size. Despite our hopes, we are now at home with hospice care, focusing on making every moment count for Ander. We have also decided to move forward with modeyso as his treatment, hoping to give him the best chance and quality of life we can.

We are determined to give Ander as much comfort and joy as possible. The funds raised will help us cover medical care, provide comfort items, and fulfill every possible wish for Ander during this precious time.
