Hi family,

I’m sorry to hit you with something heavy after such a fun weekend together, but I wanted to let you know something and ask for some help. One of Rebe’s mom’s first cousins (the equivalent of Bonnie or Laurie for us McKee boys) was just traveling in Colombia with a lot of Rebe’s extended family when she had a stroke and a massive hemorrhage in the brain…completely out of the blue. The doctors say there isn’t anything they can do. She isn’t old either; in her late fifties. Her name is Ana.

It was the first time she had ever been out of the country and they were all so excited about the trip a couple days ago…and now her husband (who’s a bus driver and doesn’t have much money), her mother, and the rest of her family have to figure out what to do: keep her connected for a bit longer and wait and pray, or pull the plug…all in a foreign country. Unless a miracle happens, they will either have to fly her body back or plan a cremation there and bring the ashes back to Costa Rica.

They are a very close family, and quite frankly, a very poor family. None of them have much money for this unexpected emergency - the medical bills, the likely cremation or flight, the funeral costs, etc.

So I’m asking anyone who wants to help out financially, to please donate to this GoFundMe that I just made. I put the goal at $3,000 but the reality is that anything and everything will help significantly and be appreciated greatly. You have my word that all donations will go directly to Ana’s family.

If you don’t feel called to give financially, that’s totally fine, just please say a prayer for Ana and her family.
