Anaïs Chen is a very active and beloved violinist in the early music scene all over Europe. Among others, she plays regularly with il Gusto Barocco as concertmaster.

Anaïs was diagnosed a few months ago with focal dystonia. This illness, although it affects 1% or even 2% of musicians, is still quite unknown and not much scientific research has been done on it.

Fortunately it is treatable, but the existing therapies are experimental and therefore expensive. In addition, they demand the musician to stop performing and invest a lot of time and effort in recuperation and rehabilitation exercises. For freelance musicians these situations is especially critical since their main source of income is lost and insurance companies do not cover all the costs of treatment and travel.

But we are very happy to report that Anaïs is undergoing treatment in Zurich with leading specialists in the field and making great progress. We are so confident in her recovery that we are planning Anaïs' participation in next season's concerts. However, she will not be able to complete her engagements this season.

For this reason and because we want Anaïs to be able to focus on her recovery so that we can enjoy her music on stage as soon as possible, we are launching this support campaign. With il Gusto Barocco she would have played in 4 projects and by not being able to perform these concerts she will lose about 5.000€. We ask for your help on behalf of il Gusto Barroco so that Anaïs can compensate the loss of this incomes.

Donations will go directly to the Anaïs account, il Gusto Barocco has only been in charge of the creation and diffusion of this campaign.
