Support for an 80-Year-Old Starting Over

I struggled for a long time whether to do a GoFundMe for my mom. So many people are in the same place she is losing everything because of Hurricane Helene. But then I realized, sometimes we need to ask for help.

My mom has worked long days and nights on her feet since she was 16 years old. She was a single parent who raised me paycheck to paycheck. She spent her entire adult life in manufacturing, working swing shifts. She has been living on social security supplemented by her retirement money. That retirement money is gone. All she had to her name was a 1-bedroom apartment and a 2007 Saturn Vue. They both were destroyed in a matter of minutes by Hurricane Helene. She is on a waitlist for a new apartment.

My mom's car was old, but it was what allowed her to have some sense of freedom. She was still able to drive herself to her doctor's appointments and go to the grocery store on her own. I want to help her with the necessities. She will need the basic human needs when she does get a place to live. She is starting completely over at 80 years old.
